New Doctor Gets A Companion

Matt Smith the 11th Doctor has gotten a companion for the 5th series (i think it's the 31st series in total) of the revamped, revived Doctor Who.
Karen Gillan, a 21 year old actress from Scotland.
Filming for the new series will start in July for a Easter 2010 broadcast start.
I can't wait, love Doctor Who.
Probably the best SF tv series ever and the longest running.

Full Frontal Nudity

My favorite Monty Python's Flying Circus episode title.

Perfectly Horrorful Birthdays

Peter Cushing's birthday was yesterday and today is Vincent Price's and still with us and making movies, Christopher Lee.
Happy Birthday Gentlemen and thankyou for all the nightmares. ;)
Lee is still the best Count Dracula in my humble and biased opinion and Cushing was the best Van Helsing and Victor Frankenstein.
Price i grew up watching on Tv and Movies and he's in my favorite horror film "Abominable Dr Phibes".
Just think how sad of a world it'd be without these gentlemen and their movies.
Celebrate the day with a good marathon of their movies!

I'm not sure anyone reads the Banana blog, i don't get any comments (except for a nice one from a person in China, thankyou). I don't have any "followers" whatever that is.
So what do i have to do, give away some Kitties to go with the Puppies?

I'll think of a real, good post soon...no really, i promise!

Tennant Hosts

Interesting news, David Tennant (the current, soon to be ex-Doctor Who) has a new job :

"NEW YORK -David Tennant is the new host of PBS' "Masterpiece Contemporary."
Tennant will make his debut on the long-running public TV anthology this fall, its producing station, WGBH, announced Wednesday.
The 38-year-old Scottish actor, who follows past "Masterpiece" hosts such as Alan Cumming and Laura Linney, played the title role in the long-running BBC sci-fi series "Doctor Who." His screen credits include "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."
"Masterpiece Contemporary" returns on the Public Broadcasting Service in October with "Endgame," a drama about the final days of apartheid in South Africa starring William Hurt and Jonny Lee Miller. It premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
The "Masterpiece" series began as "Masterpiece Theatre" in 1971, and now also encompasses "Mystery!" — a public TV fixture since 1980."

I wonder if this is a move to the US market for him, American movies and tv work?

Wooly Bully

Before Ipods,MP3s and CDs there was the vinyl record. I grew up buying real records ( i do admit to dumping vinyl when the CD first came out in the 80's but i see now my mistake), there is no sound like the sound of a real record.
All the pops and cracks add something to the sound and really the sound off a record is much richer and full than the electronic cleaned up sound of cds and mp3s.
If you've never listened or owned a real record, you should go out and find some, you'll fall in love with them.
My first album was Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs "Wooly Bully", i love this record to this day, sadly i have played the poor record to death but i still have it.

Just call me Wile E. Coyote, super genius.

Beach Blanket Blogging

E Banana member Linda wanted some Frankie Avalon and Beach Party music. The Beach Party films i remember fondly and got all the movies on DVD and they're still after 40 years. I remember seeing Beach Blanket Bingo at the Drive-In (remember those?) when i was a mere small child.
So here's the title sequence as sung by Frankie & Annette ( *sigh* Annette *sigh* ).
Beach Blanket Bingo (1965)

Greatest Movie Ever

That's right i'm talking "Rock & Roll High School" (1979), to the E Banana it's the greatest rock movie ever and the greatest movie ever!

Dial D For Dalek

If you want a puppy or kitty do visit your local humane society and adopt.

Still getting the hang of this blog and wonder if anyone has given it a look-see. I'm sure my partner in crime Mur will be posting soon.

How does one add those favorite blog lists?

Dom DeLuise R.I.P.

Reports are that Dom DeLuise passed away last night.
http://www.newsfromme.com/archives/2009_05_05.html#017073

http://www.tmz.com/2009/05/05/dom-deluise-dies/

Always liked Dom. He made so terrible movies watchable and i remember his tv series "Lotsa Luck" an American version of the British comedy "On The Buses" from the 70's.

Let's Peel This Banana

Hello!
It's our first official E Banana blog, exciting isn't it?
Eclectic_Banana is a yahoogroups list i run with the oh so very beautiful Murr but i thought i'd try a Blog thingamajig to spread our tastes of music, movies,tv and etc.
I doubt we'll get into politics (yawn) or other such cliched material that's done to death on tv,blogs, journals and such.
So let's see how this Banana Blog goes, let's have fun.

And you really need to play the Ramones while reading this, trust me it will help.
