I put up my Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving, i at least wait until Thanksgiving is over before i start to celebrate.
It's mostly just a force of habit to still put up a tree, there's no real family gathering or even any presents under the tree anymore but i like seeing it up, makes me remember the family members who are gone now.

Poinsettias
Here's a few tips for Poinsettias.
You should buy your plants now, these are early bloomers and if you plant them later in your yard they'll bloom at this time next year. I'm sure you know that the colored red leaves are not the actual bloom, those little yellow flowers in the middle are, pinch those off if you want to keep your red leaves from falling off.
Don't water them too much and take the plastic wrapping off the flower pot to help the excess water to drain off or your plant may get root rot.
Keep your plants in a sunny area, usually a window facing south or west and never put them near a heating vent or anything warm, they hate that.
I hope this helps and enjoy your Holiday Poinsettias!
